In 2015 the 28th Southeast Asian Games will be held in Singapore for the first time in 22 years coinciding with Singapore’s celebration of its 50th year of independence. The games will see 11 countries from the Asia-Pacific region take part in 402 events spanning across 46 different sports and 28 venues across the city from 5 – 26th June.

Originally conceived as a means to help forge strong regional cooperation, understanding and unity within the South East Asian community, the Southeast Asian Games is a landmark event in the Asian sporting events calendar. First held in 1959 in Bangkok, the games are utterly unique in that the organising host is at liberty to decide on the range of contested sports, adding and taking out as they wish with approval of the Southeast Asian Game Federation.

With over 7,000 athletes and over 50,000 spectators making their way to Singapore for the games, hotels, restaurants, and public spaces across the city will be putting on tie-in events to keep spectators entertained out of hours. And what better form of entertainment to keep visitors in the sporting spirit than some sports themed acts?
