Brandenburg Gate

A visit to Germany’ s oldest zoo, opened in 1844, is a great way to relax outside of a formal setting. Berlin zoo holds nearly 1,600 species and more than 16,00 animals including an aquarium and the beautiful sandstone elephant gate that was built in 1899.

 

Reichstag (Bundestag)

 

As the seat of the German federal government, the Reichstag building stands prominently as one of the most striking features of the Berlin skyline. Rebuilt in the 1960’s, its unique glass dome is accessible to visitors and offers a breath-taking 360-degrees view over the city.

 

Boat Cruise

 

It is a little known fact that Berlin actually has five times as many bridges as Venice. Take in the city in style with a cruise along one of Berlin’s canals and rivers that crisscross over the city offering spectacular views of the Capital’s attractions. Alternatively you could get out of the city for a day and take a cruise through some of the many idyllic lakes to the North East of Berlin. Money

 

The currency in Germany is Euros and there are numerous currency exchanges and banks across the city where money can be exchanged for Euros, many of which are situated around train station and airports and open until 9pm. It is important to note that although major debit and credit cards are accepted throughout the city, many smaller shops and cafes may only accept cash. Therefore visitors should always carry some bills and loose change.
